Can you cancel Protect My Car?
Yes. Protect My Car contracts are cancellable, and what you get back depends on timing: a full refund within the first 30 days (free-look period), and a prorated refund for the unused portion after that. The unused premium is money you're owed — it doesn't belong to the dealer or administrator.

Step-by-step: how to cancel
Step 1 — Gather your documents. You'll want your contract/agreement, the vehicle VIN, your account or loan number, and proof of any triggering event (payoff letter, refinance confirmation, trade-in paperwork, or total-loss settlement).
Step 2 — Complete the cancellation request form. Protect My Car processes cancellations via a written request/form. Request it or submit it via compliance@protectmycar.com or by calling 800-253-2850. Include the required documentation or the request won't be processed.
Step 3 — Submit and keep a paper trail. Send to the address on your contract. Send by a trackable method and keep a copy of everything.
Final step — Track the refund. Processing typically takes several weeks. If financed, the refund may reduce your loan balance.Follow up if it doesn't arrive on schedule.
How much will you get back?
Cancel within the first 30 days (free-look period) and you're typically owed a full refund. After that, your refund is prorated for unused coverage, less a $50 administrative fee, and Protect My Car deducts $50 administrative fee.
As a rule of thumb, the prorated math is: (months remaining ÷ total term) × price paid − fees. If financed, the refund may reduce your loan balance.
